What do you do at Mobi Lab?

Mobi Lab is a mobile design and development agency in the Mobi Solutions group. Our main activities are designing great user interfaces and experiences and developing complex software for mobile native platforms. Mobi Lab’s team is a combination of business analysts, user experience designers and mobile software and quality engineers. For example, we started off with Skype back in the days, developing its first apps for feature phones (J2ME), Blackberry and first Android versions. Today we work closely with many companies from different fields and of different sizes, from start-ups to worldwide enterprises.

The company’s main focus is tailor-made business to business services. For instance, successful mobile strategy for any business, creative and beautiful design, mobile user experience design, user interface testing, mobile interfaces development for business information systems, mobility solutions in production and infrastructure industries, creating high-quality iOS, Android and WP software and valuable behaviour monitoring and insights.

Mobi Lab is using mobile native software platforms like Android, iOS or Windows Phone and combining them with consumer and enterprise grade hardware items. Partners and clients include companies like Microsoft (Skype), Samsung, Ericsson etc.

Which would you say are the best apps you have developed and why?

The ones you feel are your best work or have a bigger influence on the users.

• Skype (J2ME, Blackberry, Android) It was a great experience for us.
• TextPlus (nextPlus) was successful and interesting project with company from San Francisco.
• Radio applications for Estonian National Broadcasting radios. They gave us free hands to design and create modern radio applications for them.
• Touchnote and Lifecake, good ideas and good cooperation.
• Click&Grow, a modern urban gardening start-up from Estonia gone global.
• Apollo Cinema. Mobi Lab team helped Apollo Cinema to the next level and added some extra value for visiting cinemas.

Which apps would Mobi Lab had loved to develop and why?

Instagram or Facebook, it feels good to develop something that is used by almost everyone.

Which are the 5 apps you use the most on a daily basis?

I mainly use Gmail, Google Calendar, Facebook and Skype for work related tasks and Facebook Messenger to chat with friends.

Which mobile device is the best in the market right now?

iPhone 5S has a unique feel and touch, totally different from other phones out there. iOS software is smooth and flawless. Now iPhone 6 feels more like any other Android phone and because of this it is not so convenient to handle when using it daily.

What kind of device/platform will be the next big thing?

Wearable health monitor, is a more complex health scanner/monitor, not just pedometer and pulse monitor with online connection.
