National Park Hike App - App project

Mobile app project description

This app will be used to promote the use of national park walking tracks to the public. The app will contain a database of all walking tracks which will include a map with the track overlaid. Basic details of the track will be included.

Additionally the app will contain user profiles: these will allow the app to remember the users walking speed and provide accurate estimates on how long they will take to complete each walk (rather than existing generic estimates). Users will also be able to gain achievements by completing certain sets of walks and by completing walks in certain periods of time.

The app will also facilitate the booking of park facilities (accomodation) and will provide weather information for each hike. A user will be able to register for a certain hike and receive push notifications of weather and accomodation activity in the days leading up to the hike.

A design theme (to be confirmed) will be provided that will cover the main components of the app. Where a particular feature is not included in this theme it is expected that the developer will appropriately apply the given theme to the new page.
