To use animation in mobile development you need to keep the following factors in mind.

1) Build meaningful transitions
2) Provide visual feedback
3) Show system status
4) Help the user get started

Don't add any transitions that the only purpose is to "look cool" - it will slow down the app, and make users irritated by them.
