Recently, Google released the third developer preview build of Android O for Android app developers. Android "O" will add support for Neighborhood Aware Networking (NAN) for Wi-Fi based on Wi-Fi Aware, wide color gamuts in apps, an API for auto filters, multiprocess and Google Safe Browsing support for WebViews, an API to allow system-level integration for VoIP apps, and launching activities on remote displays.Android Runtime (ART) features performance improvements. Android "O" contains additional limits on apps' background activities in order to improve battery life. Apps can specify "adaptive icons" for differently-shaped containers specified by themes, such as circles, squares, and squircles

It's true that most developers are excited about the new features we will find in this new release, but there might be some downsides to it as well. Thanks for sharing the blog!
We think downside from developer perspective will be due to constraints in memory and processing power, the applications developed will be smaller as compared to other application counterparts (like web) - which in turn will need smaller teams to develop.
