The first advice I give to people asking for SEO is - grow your content! Nowadays, SEO is irreversibly linked to content marketing - google rankings being mobile-optimised is, of course, one of the technical aspects of the craft, but you have to look past that. I would go even further and say, that you have to look past "online".
A lot of people go on websites through Google, but there are aspects other than SEO deciding on whether they click on the link or not - the phrases they type (which happens even before the your page is shown under "results"), the suggestions they get (this is based on traffic and other people's searches), brand recognition (this is as much about offline as about online).
Think how you can make people look for your ecommerce beyond online - educate them through offline publications, PR activity and brand recognition campaigns. That often brings much better results than regular SEO campaigns - and, if executed in a smart way, is far more accessible financially than you would imagine.
We all know that ranking higher than your competitors on the major search engines including Google is a must. Be it just getting started with a new website or enhancing the ranking of existing website, you need to have a top-notch SEO marketing strategies in line.
