INTERVIEWED BY APPFUTURA ON JUN 29, 2018
Please present yourself and your business.
I worked as a lead engineer on the marketing side of the business and also oversaw some of the contractor projects for a company that provides highly customizable software-as-a-service marketing and e-commerce platform.
Explain what your project was about.
We needed support in building several initiatives and content management solutions. The nature of this project was very agile, so we decided not to go for a large outsourcing company but rather find smaller one to minimize communication overhead.
Explain to what scope extend Touchlane was involved in your project.
Touchlane worked closely with us to build both the frontend (Angular) and backend (.Net) functionality for several greenfield features.
How did you get to meet the Touchlane team and what led you to hiring them?
We had several engineers from Eastern Europe in our team and searched market for outsourcing companies. We've met with several larger organizations, but found that Touchlane had the best fit for small, agile projects that we had.
How was their project management?
There were some hiccups while the engineers were getting accommodated during the first few weeks. This also allowed us to iron out our specifications and approach with their tech lead.
Was the project completed as expected? Was the time and the budget the same you agreed on?
The projects were flexible and on an ad-hoc basis, which is usually challenging for other companies, but Touchlane was able to handle this efficiently.
Did you find their expertise up to what you expected? Did they require any kind of training from your end to understand your product?
They were able to integrate new functionality into an existing custom software within a short timeframe.
Please highlight the best things of Touchlane.
I would absolutely refer Touchlane to small agile companies that want to work with understanding and accommodating engineers.
Is there anything you believe Touchlane could improve on?
When we started with them they were pretty new in the area and some of the processes where not as solid as you expect from more established organizations. This had minimal impact as we worked directly with engineers, which allowed us to steer development on the fly. By the end of the project communication was much smoother.
