The Customer, an international company, is the developer of Viber – an instant messaging and VoIP app which has over 600 mln active users all over the world.

CHALLENGE
The Customer commissioned ScienceSoft to design and develop a mobile app that would enable users to call, text, and send photos using the Internet instead of cellular network. The idea was to create an easy-to-use application with no registration required.

SOLUTION
ScienceSoft designed the app to run on Android and Windows Phone 7 and let users text, make HD-quality calls and send photo and video messages all over the world over Wi-Fi or 3G.

With only a Project Manager on the Customer’s side, ScienceSoft was engaged in the full cycle of mobile banking application development from defining and analyzing requirements through design and prototyping to implementation, testing and market release.

The application was successfully delivered and is now available at App Store and Google Play. In the course of 3 months a dedicated ScienceSoft iOS developer designed, developed and tested a sleek mobile app which helps users to build and use phrases without worrying about grammar.

Through the intuitive interface the app users can:

build simple phrases from components in their language
immediately see them translated in the adequate components in the target language
listen to a native speaker saying a phrase an unlimited number of times to get the intonation and stresses right
see the phonetic spelling of the phrase
create a personalized directory from the phrases they have built for future reference

The phrases in the app are classified by topics like Hotel, Business, Transport, Emergency and so on. When users re-create different phrase from components, Lego-parts-style, ordering food, making reservations, and getting around a city, they unconsciously pick up some recurring patterns like the question word order or modal verbs.

Challenge
Since its inception 4 years ago, the Customer’s smart-home project has been growing to include new functions, so new features were to be added to the mobile app as well.

Solution
The latest version of the application released in cooperation with ScienceSoft allows the user to create different accounts for each apartment with the Customer’s appliances installed. On the home screen, the user can see a live video streamed from the cameras in their house. The data recorded by the camera is transferred to the app’s back-end and is displayed on the app home screen once the user’s device connects to the Internet.

Temperature at an apartment can be changed via the application as well. In addition, the app is self-learning and as the user repeatedly inputs the same data, the system devises a respective schedule offering automatic temperature changes at the periods of time the user has been inputting most often.

ScienceSoft delivered a mobile solution to create an interconnected circle for patients and their care team members. Now, patients are in charge of their health information, aggregated from different sources, platforms and organizations, with the ability to share it with chosen caregivers. They can pick the most convenient channel and reach out to care team members, gathered in one place.

Providers, in their turn, get visibility over all their patients, their vitals, health status changes, events, emerging conditions and more. They can contact patients and other care team members in case of need. With the mobility added to care coordination, providers can ensure timely intervention and proactive approach to any condition, be it a complex chronic disease or a post-surgery recovery.

ScienceSoft lent its Android and iOS development services and augmented the Customer’s development group with 1 iOS, 1 Android and 2 JavaScript Developers working under a T&M arrangement. In the course of the 3 subsequent years, the team powered 6 broadcasting companies with customizable multi-screen apps that allowed watching online streams on smartphones, tablets, TV, gaming consoles and in browsers. Following the products’ success in the market, ScienceSoft scaled up its team.

The companies reached a milestone when set out to create their own framework based on Backbone.js, which would open up striking opportunities to lessen development costs and accelerate the delivery of customized solutions. Exploiting the agility of HTML5 to the fullest, the new architecture made it easy to regularly update, implement features and manage UI/UX via the cloud without bothering to re-publish the app to the store.
