nomtek is an innovation-driven software house founded in 2009 with offices in Poland, Germany, UK, and the US.
As a company, we focus mostly on mobile app design and development and also on Augmented and Mixed Reality products. We do that for startups, mid-companies, and big players. We have been successfully building mobile solutions since the 2nd iPhone and AR/XR products from 2017.
With over 10 years of experience, we are the real experts on the matter, where we have delivered 200+ applications!
Smartphones in the hands of Post-Millennials and Z-Generation might be disturbing, especially during lessons in school. ClassMode is an application for middle and high schools, to help them manage student cellphone use at school. It consists of a website for teachers and administrators and a student mobile app.
I have worked with many dev agencies throughout my career and Nomtek is the best by far. They care about your success and take the time to really think about the right way to build things. They have very high calibre developers who stick at the company because they are treated with respect and given ownership. They negotiate fairly and deal with issues promptly. They are more competent than many US-based agencies at a fraction of the price. We will hire internal developers later than originally planned because we are so happy with Nomtek.
INTERVIEWED BY APPFUTURA ON SEP 28, 2018
Please present yourself and your business.
I'm the CTO of Riveted Labs. Our product is called ClassMode- it is a product for secondary schools to help students stay off their phones during class.
Explain what your project was about.
Building the MVP of ClassMode, including an iOS, Android and Web app. Testing and adapting the product after it launched in several pilot schools.
Explain to what scope extend Nomtek was involved in your project.
They were our principle tech partners. We have an advisor who is an expert in device management consulting on the technical architecture, and we had already completed the designs, but otherwise, Nomtek was entirely responsible for the build, including QA and deployment.
How did you get to meet the Nomtek team and what led you to hiring them?
Via a reference. We spoke to them several times, spoke to several references, and had our technical advisor vet their lead developers. We hired them because they were more thoughtful and methodical than other agencies, and the price was reasonable.
How was their project management?
Generally good. They are very organized but also flexible, which are hard qualities to combine!
Was the project completed as expected? Were the time and the budget the same you agreed on?
The project was completed modestly behind schedule and over budget, but this is to be expected with complicated technology. Some of the overrun was scope additions on our side. Generally, Nomtek were very conscientious about the budget.
Did you find their expertise up to what you expected? Did they require any kind of training from your end to understand your product?
They benefitted from support from our technical advisor on mobile device management, but this is to be expected as it is a niche domain. We spent a week in Poland with them to onboard the project, and after that, they demonstrated an exceptional understanding of the business needs and ownership of the codebase.
Please highlight the best things of Nomtek.
They have great developers! They are very well trained, diligent, thoughtful. They write clean code with lots of test. They think of issues that haven't occurred to you. They are very dedicated to the product being successful- there are many times they have worked very late at night their time to deal with issues. They are very respectful and patient with me as a client even when I'm being annoying and changing requirements. Their leadership is honest and not at all sales-oriented. It's not surprising they have excellent staff retention.
Is there anything you believe Nomtek could improve on?
Their project leads could benefit from some training in management and communication, but it was never a serious issue.

Explain to what scope extend Nomtek was involved in your project.
Nomtek helped us to build mobile part of the whole platform, so the mobile app for iOS and Android and Android tablet app. There were also heavy integrations with platform services and hardware elements (BLE).
How did you get to meet the Nomtek team and what led you to hiring them?
Nomtek was recommended to us by other customers we talked to.
How was their project management?
Very good. Organized. Lean. Systematic. All tasks were well tracked and communicated to the team.
Was the project completed as expected? Were the time and the budget the same you agreed on?
We planned carefully knowing the complexity of it. We managed to meet the project constraints and meet the first early adopters' deadlines.
Did you find their expertise up to what you expected? Did they require any kind of training from your end to understand your product?
Nomtek provided very high-quality engineers. They understood very quickly the product.
Please highlight the best things of Nomtek.
Very good communication and first-time-right ratio. We got a very good quality product in a short time. They were reacting quickly and organizing quickly between sprints. They were flexible, reacting quickly to change requests.
Is there anything you believe Nomtek could improve on?
Hard to indicate any. I did not find any bottlenecks on their side. I really enjoyed this cooperation.

Tonigt shows you what runs. If it requires a ticket, happens close to you, and if it happens before the night is over, you can find it on Tonigt. It serves you what’s relevant, and what’s relevant only.
It brings more by bringing less, making it easier to choose what to do in the city. It does so by making it easier to:
1) find an event
2) find a ticket
3) find a friend to go with.
Nomtek is a fantastic partner for us, they have become part of our extended team. They deliver a fantastic product at a reasonable price
INTERVIEWED BY APPFUTURA ON JUN 19, 2018
Please present yourself and your business.
I'm the founder of a company that owns an app that could be very big or could be nothing at all, I don't know yet. We are testing it on our users now and first indications are good. The app makes it easier to go out for cultural events such as concerts, movie theatres, plays, comedy shows, etc. spontaneously.
Explain to what scope extend Nomtek was involved in your project.
I came to them with a very well predefined MVP, so basically, a mapping including a quite detailed description of the MVP of the app. We did a screening in Poland, Estonia, Denmark, Sweden and UK. Then we shortlisted about 20 companies which we wanted to brief more detailed about the MVP. We sent them the brief and they were very fast in understanding what we wanted to build and also very good at asking questions to understand the scope and the approach we took. Nomtek were very good at that from day one. We shortlisted three companies which were to be looked more carefully and closely. I went to visit Nomtek in Poland and watch where they worked and after that, we initiated the work, which was an MVP for the app. The project is currently just on iOS and we hope to initiate an Android version later this year.
How did you get to meet the Nomtek team and what led you to hiring them?
We met them by doing research on the internet. We did research on more than 70-80 companies, trying to understanding who are these guys, we looked at their references. At that point we had a long list, then we shorted that list. After that, we made a document of 20 pages with visuals, descriptions, requirements from a user experience kind of position and then we had a quite few detailed meetings by a conference.
Nomtek were the first to call us by a video, which was an approach to emphasize the communication, they were very good at understanding our ambition. They didn't sope it to high so we couldn't afford it,and they didn't scope it too low so that it wouldn't be good enough. They also found a very good level of pushing back if something would be too difficult or too expensive to make, they were very solution-oriented in finding creative ways to do stuff. We had a very good intuition about Nomtek, which made me book a flight ticket to go visit them. At this point, there was another company in Estonia, which was also very much in play, but we ended up going with Nomtek.
How was their project management?
It has been very good. A lot of communication on slack and on conference calls. The project has expanded since the MVP, we have added functions to it. We have gone form a fixed price to a time and materials price, and even though we don't have a Project Manager as such, one of our front-end coders is taking the function of Project Manager.
Was the project completed as expected? Were the time and the budget the same you agreed on?
Nomtek kept the budget for the MVP and they fully lived up to expectations. On the product side, the quality is really good. I put a lot of attention to details and how things work, so I'm really happy with what they have delivered.
Did you find their expertise up to what you expected? Did they require any kind of training from your end to understand your product?
I'm super happy about their expertise. As a client, using Nomtek is like working with an IT partner. I am not able to code myself so Nomtek is essentially working as our extended team. Their level of expertise is high.
Please highlight the best things about Nomtek.
The very best thing is the quality/price mix and then, of course, the team, how they are structured, their approach... They deliver a very high-quality product at a very reasonable price. Finally, the team is a bunch of great people who I’m very happy to be working with.
Is there anything you believe Nomtek could improve on?
Overall, I am very happy with everything they have done. From a 1 to 10 skill, I am 9/10 happy with everything. From a client perspective, I would like to build the product even faster but, to be honest, I don't know if that's reasonable to ask!
Hide extended reviewIn Sweden, people mostly are not buying but renting flats. As there are problems in communication between the landlords and communities (and also within communities), e.g. no time to gather the community or an easy way to inform all community members about something important.
The goal was to bring together all members of a particular community, including the landlord, within an app that is tailored to today's lifestyle in Sweden.
Mobile application and web panel has become our solution. The application features a news feed which is simple and a fast way to share information among community members. During Nomtek's workshops with the client, we discovered many additional features that naturally and perfectly suit this solution - like a feature that allows booking a laundry.
Awesome company!
