ResMed's Research & Development team was looking to explore new health areas, find problems in those areas and subsequently use technology to solve them. Their focus became Chronic Disease, of which there are many variations, and supporting/motivating people with Chronic Disease to better manage and treat their health.
ResMed approached Sarvaha to develop an iOS application which would serve as a support and motivation tool for patients with Chronic Disease, and their supporting physicians.
We developed Wellness Mate, an iOS mobile application.
Users can set weekly goals around their health, plan activities which will help them manage their symptoms (ie - exercise, meals, medication scheduling) and set a 'confidence level' around how confident they are they can achieve these goals and complete these activities fully. This data is also sent to a web application for physicians, where they can monitor the progress and well being of their patients.
The app uses motivational interviewing techniques to encourage users to achieve their goals and improve their health. At the end of each week, users are provided with feedback on how well they completed their activities in comparison their confidence level, and what they could do to continue improving their health.
Wellness Mate is about to be trialed in Australia and New Zealand with its first cohort of patients.
