Eighty Three Creative company overview

The Eighty Three Creative App Development Team is a group of highly trained individuals that covers all aspects of taking a mobile app from concept to production, from designers and product planners, to engineers dedicated to mobile development, and backend engineers ready to tackle the intricate plumbing of an app that makes it all work.

We can jump in to your project at any stage in the game, from a sketch on a napkin to fully thought-out wireframes and design comps, and bring it to a production-ready product on any of the current major platforms. All work is performed by full-time, in-house employees, and not outsourced to an external company, so there is no ambiguity with the service and attention you will receive.

As a full-service marketing company, we can also provide solutions that extend far beyond App Development, encompassing full campaigns of any size.

Picks by City Electric Supply
Client: Budget: more than $25,000 (USD)

City Electric Supply wanted a new way to engage with their customers, suppliers and employees that didn’t feel like an advertisement or a marketing campaign. Many of their branches were already running paper football pools, so expanding this idea into something that could reach a much larger audience seemed like a great choice.

Picks by City Electric Supply was developed by Eighty Three Creative as a native app for both iOS and Android. The game stored the 2017 NFL season schedule and users made their weekly picks up to one hour before kickoff. As the games completed, we tallied the scores of the user’s correctly picked matches, which were shown on the weekly leaderboard.

This approach had two main advantages. By asking the user for new picks every week, we kept high engagement in the app throughout the season. Clearing the leaderboard each week also gave users a level playing field and the opportunity to jump in at any point in the season and still reach the top of the charts and win prizes.

To make this a successful marketing campaign and build revenue for City Electric Supply, we reached out to some of the client’s more established vendors and sold advertising spots within the app itself. This revenue was used to award prizes to the top three places on the weekly leaderboard, which gave a great incentive to keep playing the entire season.

The goal was to keep some of the existing brand elements in addition to the app’s own branding identity to increase mindshare.

400 Record embodies the past, present, and future of downtown Dallas in one iconic property.

The Challenge
After undergoing a major remodel and rebrand, 400 Record needed to attract tenants and lease the space. They also needed to figure out a way to add functionality to reserve conference rooms, request rides from the on-site electric cars, and easily access building services and information.

The Solution
Eighty Three Creative designed and developed a dynamic mobile application to accommodate all desired functionality in a clean, user-friendly interface. Our goal was to take a somewhat ordinary app and make it interesting. Through the app, users can hail a ride with an Uber-style service, book conference rooms, and browse building information and services.

The app is used as a sales tool while courting new tenants. It’s also used by current building tenants to request rides and book conference rooms.

This app was designed and built by Eighty Three Creative for the WESA Market show that happens twice a year in Denver, and contains information normally distributed in a bound booklet to event attendees.

By collecting all of this information in a mobile app, we were able to make it easier to find specific content, and enabled some interactions that wouldn't otherwise be possible.

The Art of 400 Record app was another app developed for the 400 Record building in Downtown Dallas as part of their rebranding, and highlights artwork located throughout the building. Plaques and mounting brackets were designed and fabricated by Eighty Three Creative that house a Bluetooth LE beacon, and then installed next to each piece of art.

When the app detects it is near one of the art beacons, information about that piece of art is shown on screen along with the artist name and biography.

Over Lunch connects English-speaking professionals in the real world and online, helping users build their networks, forge friendships, and enrich their lives.

Over Lunch came to Eighty Three Creative with a web-based prototype of their app, and wanted to have it built natively in order to fix a variety of issues it had and launch to a wider audience with a higher quality app.

Using the designs of the original prototype as a starting point, we came up with a new design and built the app from scratch, including the backend and real-time chat features. The app uses user location to match users, while keeping precise locations private.
