Please present yourself and your business.

I am Nitin Dhawan. I am a co-founder of Star Records Management Private Limited.
Star Records Management is a Records Management company which archives, stores and manages physical documents for corporates.

Explain what your project was about.

The project included developing a complete records management software solution which would include the following features:

- Determining what records should be created in each business process, and what information needs to be included in the record.
- Deciding on what form and structure records should be created and captured in, and the technologies to be used.
- Determining what metadata should be created with the record and through record processes and how that metadata will be persistently linked and managed.
- Preserving records and making them accessible over time, in order to meet business requirements and community expectations.
- Ensuring that records are maintained in a safe and secure environment.
- Identifying and evaluating opportunities for improving the effectiveness, efficiency or quality of its processes, decisions, and actions that could result from better records creation or management.
- Determining requirements for retrieving, using and transmitting records between business processes and other users and how long they need to be kept to satisfy those requirements.
- Deciding how to organize records so as to support requirements for use.
- Assessing the risks that would be entailed by a failure to have authoritative records of activity.
- Complying with legal and regulatory requirements, applicable standards and organizational policy.
- Ensuring that records are retained only for as long as needed or required.

Explain to what scope extend BLAZING TRAIL was involved in your project.

Blazing Trail was given an end to end responsibility for developing and implementing the software

How did you get to meet the BLAZING TRAIL team and what led you to hiring them?

I have known Adesh Sarwan, founder of Blazing Trail for a long time. We had worked together in our previous employment and Adesh was briefly a part of the founding team of Star Records Management.

How was their project management?

Excellent. There was complete detailing of all the steps involved. All modules were detailed with timelines along with desired output.

What was the budget range quoted for this project?

INR 15 - 20 lacs

Was the project completed as expected? Was the time and the budget the same you agreed on?

The time got extended a little more so because we extended the scope of the project to include tracking of records using RFID tags apart from barcodes.
The blazing trail team ensured that they compensated us by providing advanced technology in the same budget.

Did you find their expertise up to what you expected? Did they require any kind of training from your end to understand your product?

The team exceeded expectations. They took time to understand our operations and the business model thoroughly. This took too much time in the beginning and it seemed that things were not moving. But once they had a complete understanding of the business, translating it into code became much faster and not only they could meet the timelines but delivered a superior technology without exceeding the budgeted costs.
