INTERVIEWED BY APPFUTURA ON AUG 24, 2017
Please present yourself and your business.
Dotvik as organization was founded by Anoop and myself five years ago with focus on Mobility first solutions. Our tag line is "More from Mobiles". Both Anoop and myself graduated from IIT Delhi in the year 1996, and worked with startups and created many solutions. In 2012, we developed Android OEM AppStore for companies bringing Android devices, similar to Android Play Store. Second line of product we developed for business applications for enterprises powered by our enterprise middleware platform. It has form and reporting engine for mobile devices.
Explain what your project was about.
AppLot is a CMS (Content Management System) created for mobile content management and support growth on both smartphones and feature phones.
Explain to what scope extend AppSquadz was involved in your project.
AppSquadz has taken full responsibility of developing the Android Application, where as backend system was built from ground up by internal team of Dotvik Solutions. AppSquadz undertook various aspects of Android Application development, which we can list them:
1. Design and UX of the Application.
2. User Persona and Profile
3. Device Management
4. Billing Integration with Operators and Third Party payment gateways.
5. Application Analytics
6. Social Integration
How did you get to meet the AppSquadz team and what led you to hiring them?
Their digital marketing and persistant follow up with our product team made us to decide in favour of them out of 5 shortlist vendors.
How was their project management?
Overall project management was good. We never felt anything a miss. WBS was quite well defined. There were though few slipages from the baseline and obviously few from our internal server side engineering team.
What was the budget range quoted for this project?
Initially we budgeted for 25K USD. Vendor quotes varied from 15K - 35K. But from their offer, and their proactiveness, we closed it around 22K USD.
Was the project completed as expected? Was the time and the budget the same you agreed on?
Project was completed as expected with expected delay of 2 weeks which was due to our server side team.
Did you find their expertise up to what you expected? Did they require any kind of training from your end to understand your product?
There is no doubt in Mobile application delivery of AppSquadz. Our product team worked with their engineering team quite closely. Graphics and UX were actually jointly developed.
Please highlight the best things of AppSquadz.
Their Graphics and UX team is good. They give out very quick application design and quick POC which can be viewed on mobile devices.
Is there anything you believe AppSquadz could improve on?
There is always a scope of improvement i.e. proper release management, and bugs/issues tracking with respect to build releases. Interaction with developer is always challenging as it is more around only coding and they always want to finish without looking at broader picture.
Is there anything else about your experience with AppSquadz that you would like to share?
They did not escalate the bill, they accommodate few CRs with reasonable cost.
