INTERVIEWED BY APPFUTURA ON JUN 15, 2018
Please present yourself and your business.
My name is Sol and I am the Director of Brezaa app.
Explain what your project was about.
It is basically a dating app. It matches people based on personal interests in nearby places. I had the idea for it about two years ago and I did the designs myself. Then I got the designer to refine the designs, which took about 3-4 months before moving on to development.
Explain to what scope extend Applify was involved in your project.
I had my own design, but I wanted them to take it and build on it. The scope was to better my design and build and Android and iOS app. It has to be Native, I was very specific about how I wanted it. It had to be Android Studio and the latest Swift back at the time.
I gave them a scope based on different deliverables.
How did you get to meet the Applify team and what led you to hire them?
When it came to finding an actual developer it was really difficult. I found a developer that I thought could do it, paid upfront and didn’t get anything. I started looking for companies and I posted my requirements on PeoplePerHour and received over ninety proposals. Because I had had a bad experience with a freelancer before, I now wanted to focus on professional app development companies.
I went through a very intensive vetting period of about two months. I trimmed down the selection until I got down to Applify. I spoke to the directors and they were just very professional. They showed me the environment where my app would be developed, their offices, and the staff looked happy too. I was really impressed by how professional they were and their communication skills.
The director seemed genuine. A lot of people are just after the money. Their approach was more like: this is what we do, we can do this for you, this is how we work. They were showcasing their actual work and they gave a lot of breakdowns on how everything would work.
At that point, I did not trust anybody after my previous bad experience. They knew about it and I told them I was putting all my trust in them, but we had to have some strict conditions. They were happy to do that.
How was their project management?
There have been times in which we haven’t agreed on certain things, but that is going to happen in any job. The project manager updated me on a day-to-day basis. Very professional, absolutely incredible.
They’re really good. I am very specific about my app, it’s like my baby. Sometimes I can be a little bit tedious or over the top, but at the end of the day, it is my product. However, what I like about Applify is that not everything I told them to do, they’ve done. Sometimes they’d suggest an idea that turned out to be great. So, although I’m very strict about what I want to do, they would turn around and give their opinion. Sometimes we’d argue and they would give their reasons and I love that. Basically, they would give suggestions and ideas, because they were passionate about making this app look and feel as good as possible.
They are just very professional.
Was the project completed as expected? Were the time and the budget the same you agreed on?
I gave them the timelines and they said it was achievable. I had some issues I had to get sorted out and I made some changes and additions, so I pushed out my original timelines.
Did you find their expertise up to what you expected?
Generally, they exceeded my expectations. There were times when I was shocked. They’d send me builds to review and you see it going from paper to an app. It was better than I thought.
Please highlight the best things about Applify.
Communication, professionalism. They won’t just take what you say. If they think they can do it better, especially technically, they will tell you. They added value.
Is there anything you believe Applify could improve on?
I can’t think of anything.
