Orchestras and choirs manage their sheet music on paper, which is outdated, time-consuming and expensive. Ordering sheet music from publishing houses/resellers takes weeks and costs a lot.
The goal was to create an app for tablet computers which would allow easy management, taking and sharing notes/annotations, distributing and using sheet music in an orchestra and choir setting.
The client came to Applaud with an idea and wanted an MVP. We suggested to instead make a clickable prototype using Flinto before starting development, so this could be shown to potential customers (choirs/orchestras) and publishing houses that publish sheet music. We made the clickable prototype, the client presented it on a few tradeshows for the industry. Clients did not like the prototype. Applaud redesigned it according to the feedback in the course of a day. The client presented it again on the same day, got a signed letter of intent, used that letter to raise capital from investors, and Applaud started developing. It is an iOS app only for now. It allows orchestras to share music among themselves, define groups and share content among these groups (like string instruments see one type of content, wind instruments another). Different annotation layers can also be created and shared. There is also a web interface together with a marketplace functionality for buying and renting sheet music.
Applaud is a cooperative, responsive, solution-oriented and trustworthy company who has a professional, talented and dedicated team. We have had and still have a very good experience with Applaud since we started a cooperation. We appreciate that very much.
