INTERVIEWED BY APPFUTURA ON JUL 13, 2017
Please present yourself, your business and your position.
I am currently the CTO of eWise.
Explain what your project was about.
Our business exposes APIs to our clients for aggregating banking information from different banks. To do that, we created a system which accepts aggregator logic code (one per bank) to do the actual aggregation. That is, there is one system which exposes the API, does the authentication/authorization, etc, then we input the aggregator logic code files (one per bank) to handle the actual logic of aggregation per bank.
Explain to what scope extend Adroit was involved in your project.
We asked Adroit to do several of these aggregator logic code files for several banks to help us capture more market by supporting more banks. We also asked Adroit to create a mobile application which uses our API to showcase what our platform can do.
How did you get to meet the Adroit team and what led you to hiring them?
JP Yao is a friend of mine from back in college, so I know him personally. But it was only a few years ago that JP and I got to work for a common employer. When we both left that company, I joined eWise, and he started Adroit. And when I needed to outsource some work, I contacted JP.
How was their project management?
For the aggregator logic per bank, after the initial orientation and training, Adroit was given a list of banks to work on. They scheduled on what can be delivered and when. And weekly, Adroit provided reports on their accomplishments.
For the mobile app project, the requirements were discussed with Adroit and together, we broke down the project into stories that were estimated, scheduled and worked on. After the schedule was agreed on, Adroit proceeded to work on it providing eWise a weekly report on their progress. Also, there were adhoc discussions tackling any questions or issues Adroit may have along the way.
Was the project completed as expected? Was the time and the budget the same you agreed on?
For the aggregator logic per bank, yes. For the mobile application project, Adroit finished their end of the job, but unfortunately, our platform itself had issues which is why the project got delayed. It was fully understood though that it was eWise's issue and Adroit even went above and beyond what was expected of them to help us with our issue.
Did you find their expertise up to what you expected? Did they require any kind of training from your end to understand your product?
Yes. Training was definitely required to help everybody understand our product and how to plugin in their work with the platform (since they did not have access to the whole platform). But the training was minimal and they were up and running on day 1.
Please highlight the best things of Adroit.
They will not only do what is contracted of them, but they will really try to help your business succeed. That is always on their mind - to make their clients successful.
