10 clouds developed a mobile app for iOS, Android and a web solution for the client.
The mobile project is a professional tool for research and development for quality assurance, scouting and trade fairs.
10 clouds mobile app developers helped with the design and were involved in the iOS and Android app development as well as in the front-end and back-end of the website.
Personally, I had a very nice working relationship with them. I used to work for companies like 10Clouds before and was impressed by what I saw. I would prefer them to most German (local) development shops. Indeed, as a software engineer I would like to work for them. That feeling is shared by the engineers and in my opinion that shows in the work they deliver.
INTERVIEWED BY APPFUTURA ON AUG 09, 2017
Please present yourself, your business and your position.
I’m Jörg Kreß, CTO at WeScout GmbH. We produce a software (WeScout) that codifies use cases from the consulting services of the parent company and is also often used within those consulting services.
Explain what your project was about.
WeScout enables customers to gather observations (which can be trends, ideas, impediments, etc.) from human scouts and to gain insights from those observations using an easy to use analytics interface.
Explain to what scope extend 10 clouds was involved in your project.
10Clouds provided the engineering team for back-end, front-end, iOS and Android. They supported with design also.
How did you get to meet the 10 clouds team and what led you to hiring them?
They were recommended by someone who used to work with them.
How was their project management?
Since I was involved, most project management task were with us, with support from 10Clouds. Whenever something was needed they responded very quickly.
Was the project completed as expected? Was the time and the budget the same you agreed on?
A few iterations at the beginning were not, but that was due to expectation mismanagement on both sides. They handled those cases very gracefully to our satisfaction. Since then there have been no issues whatsoever.
The initial iOS engineer they introduced was a freelancer and not really up to the task. They handled that by not invoicing those hours.
Did you find their expertise up to what you expected? Did they require any kind of training from your end to understand your product?
Yes. That was needed because the product, while easy to use, is complex. Some of the engineers were very fast in getting to know the ins and outs of the application.
Please highlight the best things of 10 clouds.
- Highly motivated people.
- Very responsive to our requests.
- Always trying to find a solution.
- They are improving always, don’t stand still as other companies.
Is there anything you believe 10 clouds could improve on?
- UI Test automation as part of the offer would be nice, as well as Device Cloud services.
- More guidance regarding store submission minutiae.
The main challenge in this project for 10clouds was to create a functioning MVP (Minimum Viable Product) before the 2016 European Handball Championship.
The objective of the project was to create an app that could be used by professional athletes to manage their career in all aspects: Communication, Marketing, Financial tools and Sponsors management, Insurances, Trainers, Schedules and much more.
The MVP of the mobile app was ready for download before the start of the tournament as needed. After the launch, an Android version was developed as well and launched near the end of 2016.
The app is effectively able to help professional and semi-professional athletes manage their own careers in all aspects, and there are some regular users, specially in the handball world.
In 10Clouds we found our perfect partner and we were able to release the first version of Iplay very quickly. The response we got from our users was amazing
The challenge 10clouds was faced with was to develop an app that had to access private and public data sources simultaneously when detecting a number present in the database while avoiding fraudulent reports.
The objective of the project was to develop an app that could be used as a community phone book, detecting spam, scams and other potential threats.
Technically-speaking, CallerSmart connects personal or professional details available online (such as: name, workplace, location, etc.) with a given phone number. The app uses public and private data sources to find as much information about any number as possible. Every user can add and check whether they are called by spammers, scammers or other potentially dangerous individuals.
CallerSmart serves as a community phone book. Huffington Post, Mashable, Inc. and many others have featured CallerSmart, and BuzzFeed nicknamed our iOS app “turnt up caller ID” in their “11 Things To Do Before You Start Dating Online” article.
Our work in this project started from mobile development, but we ended up delivering both mobile and web applications. Together with our client we’ve built a tool that makes phone communication safer and easier to manage.
The 10clouds team is fantastic at hiring outstanding Polish engineers, specially experts in Python. We consider Maciej and his entire team as our own CTO.
