INTERVIEWED BY APPFUTURA ON DEC 13, 2017
Please present yourself and your business.
My name is Samuel Corso and I am Co-Founder and CEO at TechSuite, a NYC-based software development firm.
Explain what your project was about.
Over the last 2 years, we have done 25+ projects with Mobiloitte (for our clients). They have been for companies large and small, in many different industry verticals, leveraging different types of technology.
Explain to what scope extend Mobiloitte was involved in your project.
Mobiloitte is our strategic channel partner and handles all of the design, development, and testing while we handle the product strategy and project management locally.
How did you get to meet the Mobiloitte team and what led you to hiring them?
I found Mobiloitte through a job post on Upwork. I spoke to 50+ offshore vendors and I was most drawn to Mobiloitte by two key things.
First, they are transparent about their processes, not just on projects, but in hiring good talent as well. This kind of information is often blanketed in mystery and sometimes even blatant lies by other companies, who might, for example, allocate a junior level developer to a project while the client speaks to a senior.
Second, they are a large, growing team of professional people. Running a software development firm, we need a partner with a diverse set of resources for a variety of different web and mobile technologies. Mobiloitte is a team of 500+, and expects to double that over the next year. They do hire trainees, but the resources working on the fundamental aspects of the projects are senior level people. This was something I picked up on even within their Business Development team. They were really professional in how, and how often, they followed up with me, while others annoyed me at all times of the day with frequent requests for updates.
How was their project management?
Project management is definitely a strength at Mobiloitte. They allocate an SQM (Senior Quality Manager) to each project who provides daily and weekly status reports along with any deliverables as they are completed. They handle feedback well and iterate quickly.
What was the budget range quoted for this project?
We have done several projects with them, ranging from $2-5k on the lower end, to $12-15k on the higher end.
Was the project completed as expected? Was the time and the budget the same you agreed on?
Yes, Mobiloitte always delivers on time and on budget. The key to that is proper estimations. They provide itemized breakdowns so all tasks and subtasks (which is where most companies go wrong) are accounted for and the client really understands what they will get. Once the project starts, they create a delivery plan using those same tasks/subtasks, and stick to it. It goes to show that the resources working on the project really know what they are doing. I have also compared their quotes to those of other vendors (using the same exact requirements) and consistently get the best offers from Mobiloitte.
Did you find their expertise up to what you expected? Did they require any kind of training from your end to understand your product?
See above regarding the expertise. Absolutely no training was involved, they’re all senior level people with lots of expertise.
Please highlight the best things of Mobiloitte.
Transparency, Communication, Team, Price, Delivery.
Is there anything you believe Mobiloitte could improve on?
This is not exactly specific to Mobiloitte - but accountability for the developers could be improved. I think that this would be an extra incentive for them to give their best effort on each individual project. The reality is that in an outsourcing/agency environment, the resources are separated from the companies and people whose products they are working on. This often results in lack of task identity, which removes some of the incentive to give the projects that they are assignment the same effort that they would give their own.
