Cristian Beres, Synergo Group

Cristian Beres is the Founder of Synergo Group. This top mobile app development company was founded in 2005 and is located in Toronto, Canada. It has more than 40 IT professionals and mobile app developers.

Cristian assists clients with their web and mobile app needs. He calls himself a Solution Architect as he first understands the client’s business needs, then puts together a technological solution that addresses that need. Taking it one step further he oversees the development of the solution ensuring that the client’s needs are met.

Cristian Beres is a developer and he started a few software products himself, so Cristian understands very well the constraints, risks and fear of the start-up business owner. Over a 24+ years career he has architected, designed and developed software, designed and modeled databases, analyzed, cleaned-up and migrated data and integrated systems: from insurance and medical inventory software platforms to Royalty Systems for two of the largest Media Companies in the World, to non-for- profit, education and Government.

The Founder of Synergo Group holds a Master of Science degree from the Technical University of Timisoara in Romania and has received Project Management training at the University of Toronto. Based in Canada, he has worked in Europe, Africa and North America. Here’s what Cristian Beres has to say about his mobile app development company Synergo Group and the mobile app development world:

What does Synergo Group mobile app development company do?

Synergo Group provides full service, end to end technology solutions for mobile and web platforms. We have specialized teams for every single step of the app development lifecycle, from UI/UX design and prototyping, to development, testing, devops and support.

We differ from other providers by aligning our goals with the client’s goals. Our philosophy is that Synergo Group can only be successful if our client is successful, so we are doing everything in our power to help our clients become successful. That means that we are not simply executing on a project, but we actively and proactively participate, bringing value into the partnership through our vast experience in this domain, from start ups to enterprise.

What clients has Synergo Group worked for?

Samsung Electronics, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, Hollard Insurance, Canadan Life, Hartford Steam Boiler (a Munich RE Company), Modernizing Medicine, AssetWatch, to name a few.

If you had to choose one category, what kind of app do you think is your mobile app development company’s specialty?

It is very hard to settle for one type of app. We develop both mobile and web apps for a lot of verticals and we usually find interesting cross-domain synergies. Sometimes a certain vertical grows more rapidly than others due to a “fashion effect” and what we find is that most of the times technology that has been discovered in one domain can then be applied very easily on other domains. We have a lot of technological solutions under our belt and we are constantly looking for problems to be solved where we can apply our technological advantage.

What is the average budget of the mobile apps you develop?

Our client bases spans from early stage start ups to large enterprises, projects span from prototypes to fully fledged applications, so an average budget would be definitely pushed upward by the large projects. It is probably better if I separate the two and then we can say that for smaller projects probably the average is between $10,000 to $20,000, while for the large projects the average is over $100,000.

Do you develop all mobile apps in-house or do you outsource some parts of the process?

We develop everything in house, except for the cases where we run out of bandwidth, in which case we externalize work to our trusted partners from our own extended delivery partner network. This is the only way we can ensure the quality of our delivery.

Do you prefer to build mobile apps with native, hybrid or web languages?

At the moment we are still developing mostly with native iOS and Android, however, we see an increase both in the demand as well as the capabilities of the hybrid platforms. We are usually developing based on our client’s requirements, but, sometimes we are asked for advice and then we recommend going with a native approach in the case where advanced hardware access is required or when the requirements are not defined very well and there is a risk of some advanced requirements being needed somewhere down the road.

Let’s focus on iOS and Android mobile app development. Which are the Pros and Cons of each platform?

In our experience we find that Android excels when it comes to flexibility and configurability, however, programming on Android in general is a bit more difficult and time consuming, given the large variety of devices running Android.

When it comes to iOS we like it because of its consistency, but if the application has to support a range of iOS devices, the costs of updating and maintaining an app are higher. Also, at time the process of getting an app authorized by the App Store can be long.

Which one will evolve more within the next 5 years?

I think they are both here to stay and even though they might switch between the two top places, there is no real contender on the horizon. At least not yet.

Which device is the best in the market right now?

I don’t think there is a best of all. Each device has a certain target audience and is addressing a certain segment of the market, so within each of these market segments there is a leader, but I can’t say that there is an absolute best.
