Top app development companies interview: PowerCode

Artur Buyukyan is the CFO of PowerCode. The mobile app development company was founded in 2015 by Vladislav Savchenko. It is located in Kiev, Ukraine with offices in the United States, Germany and Poland. The mobile app development company has 82 employees.

Artur has been working in IT industry for several years doing both project and business management. It was always interesting for him to expand businesses, companies size, ways of improving and business process automation.

Let’s see what Artur Buyukyan has to say about PowerCode and the mobile app development world.

What does PowerCode do?

PowerCode is an innovative web and mobile app development company that combines dedicated software developers with a professional management team.

Proudly based in Ukraine, our passionate, user-oriented designers have an iron grip of the tools we use to build exceptional digital experiences. We believe web and app development should never be boring. It should never be weak.

We never forget that client’s business goals drive everything. That’s why our beautiful web and mobile app designs blend the clients’ brand objectives into intuitive and impactful products every step of the way.

Every project we take on is highly customized. We don’t do out-of-the-box solutions because we know that every project is unique. Every mobile app is built for the client, solves a challenge, and delivers what the app owners wants it to. Besides - we don’t like doing the same thing twice.

What clients has PowerCode you worked for?

Hundreds of clients already went through PowerCode. Providing a full-cycle service helps us fit the customer needs in every other category.

There is no special description for a common customer. It goes from startups and app idea owners to enterprise size businesses, and that’s exactly what I like most. Yesterday you could be developing a concept for a restaurant in New York, in a month you are developing a real estate platform for a company from Sydney with thousands of users. In a few months, you’re in a team that creates an innovative travel startup for a European market. And the conclusion is always the same – you’re making this world better with mobile apps.

If you had to choose one category, what kind of app do you think is PowerCode mobile app development company specialty?

That’s the most difficult question I’ve ever been asked. As I said before we have a wide spectrum of categories, specialities and technologies. If I needed to chose only one, I would say Social Media. These apps assist people with solving day-to-day problems, and that’s always a pleasure to know you made someone’s routines simpler.

What is the average budget of the mobile apps you develop?

We really like Agile methodology, that's why we try to implement this in every challenge we face. Agile means to be flexible, so we’re flexible with the budgets for every customer too. We understand how sometimes it may be difficult to attract the investments, that’s why we meet the client halfway and accommodate each other.

Do you develop all mobile apps in-house or do you outsource some parts of the process?

We mostly have everything in-house. It is much more comfortable when all the team members who are involved in a project have the same time zone and can easily meet up personally to discuss project needs and details in a face-to-face meeting.

Moreover, we’re open in moving team members between our offices here in Ukraine to improve the communication. Our experience shows that this approach works fine and we’re going to continue doing it.

Which would you say are the best mobile apps that PowerCode has developed and why?

We’re currently working on a mobile app through AppFutura, I can’t share more information. In a few words, the app connects teachers and learners and provides a private lesson. That simplifies the ways of studying and saves time for both of them.

Do you prefer to build mobile apps with native, hybrid or web languages?

Every project is unique, that’s why no one can say which way will be better beforehand. Before we start any work we prefer making the analysis. This stage handles the estimation, technologies to be chosen and approaches for a project management. Both hybrid and native development have it’s own pros and cons. Anyway, we still like building mobile apps on its own technologies.

Let’s focus on iOS and Android mobile app development. Which are the Pros and Cons of each platform?

This is more subjective than objective, and there will always be those who prefer iOS and those who think Android is better. I value iOS for its stance of privacy. However, we like the customizability that Android offers. iOS devices tend to be more expensive than the equivalent hardware that Android uses. On the other hand, as Android is the more popular smartphone operating system, it is more likely to be the focus of attacks.

Which one will evolve more within the next 5 years?

Smartphone and tablet apps are at the peak of their popularity and will stay there for years to go for sure. As long as there is a race between Android and iOS, the technologies will evolve rapidly as well. So the major question is which one of them will be one step ahead.

Which device is the best in the market right now?

I guess it is cutting-edge Iphone X with Face ID technology. Apple, due to their future-seeming breakthroughs, sets the pace for the industry in general. So, I can say without any doubt that Iphone X is the best for now.

And which device do you feel more comfortable developing an app for?

Both have its own importance and values. I highly recommend to cover both markets before developing your next mobile app.
