Top app development companies interview: MobileCoderz

Rahul Aswal is a Mobile App Consultant at MobileCoderz Technologies. The company, founded in 2015 by Pranay Agrawal and Abhishek Shukla is located in India and has over 50 employees.

Rahul has occupied a variety of roles before (from software tester to business analyst or digital marketing consultant). Here’s what he has to say about his company and the mobile world:

What does your mobile app development company do?

We help shape people’s ideas into stellar mobile and web apps as we are a group of creatives who get immense pleasure in helping other people realize their visión.

We started MobileCoderz Technology in-order to satisfy our two most important desires – helping others and creating something elegant and beautiful.

And as we had hoped, consulting clients with their ideas and designing & developing stellar apps & websites for them turned out to be extremely satisfying.

We have expertise in developing Native iOS/Android Apps, Hybrid Apps and robust websites. In the past 4 years, we have developed over 90 stellar mobile apps and over 165 websites to date.

What clients have you worked for?

We’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse set of clients ranging from disruptive start-ups to mid-level organizations to multinational corporations.

But as we have signed NDA with most of our clients, I cannot possibly share the name of our clientele with you.

However, I would be more than happy to share the name of some of our clients who are not under an NDA:, Zagtrader, Nutripal, etc. are some of the renowned companies to name a few.

If you had to choose one category, what kind of app do you think is your mobile app development company’s specialty?

We specialize in developing both Native iOS/Android and Hybrid App as we have two separate dedicated teams for both Native and Hybrid App Development.

If I have to pick a niche in which we specialize, it will definitely be On-Demand and MarketPlace apps as we’ve had the privilege of developing around thirty-two such apps to date. Owing to this experience, we have in-depth knowledge of developing these type of applications which enables us to consult clients in the best way possible.

What is the average budget of the mobile apps you develop?

It’s pretty hard to put a number on this as the costing of each app varies according to their functionality and the technology on which it is being developed. But just to give you a rough estímate, the average cost for developing a native iOS and Android App is around $10k.

Do you develop all mobile apps in-house or do you outsource some parts of the process?

We are a team of around 45 top-notch professionals and we do all our work in-house. On the contrary, we have a lot of Channel Partners across the US, UK, and Europe who outsources their App Development works to us. We act as their secret backend team and deliver stellar apps for their clientele.

Which would you say are the best mobile apps that your company has developed and why?

This is one of the hardest questions to answer as we have developed so many great apps that it is almost impossible to list down a few apps out of them.

So I’ll just mention a couple of apps that are on top of my head. One of them is Flyin, which is an on-demand flight and hotel booking application. It is a very popular App in the Middle East:

Another very promising app that we have recently launched is Allomi, which is a Social Media photo booth app for Events. This app allows users to create an event and design custom filters for their event and during the event, the participants in the event can click photos using those filters and post it on the event group on the app. We used the Ionic Technology to develop this Hybrid App.

Do you prefer to build mobile apps with native, hybrid or web languages?

As we have expertise in developing apps on Native platforms, Hybrid Platforms and using Web Languages, we do not have any particular platform preference for developing the app.

The technology that we recommend to our clients to develop the app is purely based on the functionality of their app and the budget that they have allocated for the project. After we suggest our clients any particular platform, we explain to them the pros and cons of that platform which ultimately leads them to make an informed decision.

Let’s focus on iOS and Android mobile app development. Which are the Pros and Cons of each platform?

Like any other thing, both iOS and Android platform have their own pros and cons. So let’s dive deeper into the pros and cons of each platform.

From development perspective, iOS apps are easier to develop as the developers have to develop the app for a narrow range of devices and operating systems whereas Android apps are harder to develop as the developers have to develop the app for dozens of Smartphone that have different specification and are running on different version of the Android OS. Due to the aforementioned reason, Android apps take more time to develop as well.

Now, let’s check out the next point – Deploying the App on their respective stores. Google allows you to deploy your App on the Playstore for a nominal charge of $25 and they do not have a lengthy and strict approval process as well. In fact, you can expect to have your app approved within a few hours of uploading. Whereas iOS charges $100 per year for publishing the app on the app store and they have a very lengthy and strict approval process. Unless the iOS app developer has followed all the Apple guidelines for developing the iOS app, one can forget about getting their app approved on the app store.

However, I would like to highlight that if someone is planning to develop their app on either of the platforms, they should not be bothered by the above pros and cons. The only thing that should matter to them is, whether the majority of their target audience is iOS users or Android users, and if the numbers are very close, go for an iOS app as iOS users are more likely to make in-app purchases then Android users (obviously, this applies if you have an in-app purchasing revenue model).

Which one will evolve more within the next 5 years?

Android has come along a long way since it’s inception and over the next 5 years it will certainly evolve more than iOS.

Which device is the best in the market right now?

I feel iPhone X is the best in the market right now and it’s quality and looks are a cut above the rest of the Smartphones available in the market right now.

And which device do you feel more comfortable developing an app for?

As I mentioned in the pros and cons section that iOS apps are easier to develop, so of course we are more comfortable with developing iOS apps as well.
