After more than two years since the first interview with Code Brew Labs, we have reconnected with them again, this time we have interviewed the CTO and Co-founder Pargat Dhillon. 2016 and 2017 have been great years for mobile app developers, and we are sure 2018 will be even better.
Let’s see if things have changed for Code Brew Labs’ app development company.
Your last interview was published in August, 2015. What great apps has Code Brew Labs been working on since then?
Code Brew has been busy with a lot of interesting projects and I would love to discuss a few with you. Recently, we worked with Nielsen for a market research app for CXO’s of top blue chip companies. Also, we got a chance to work for SML ISUZU to develop a Sales CRM for the Indian market and we are now working on a QA solution for their vehicles. Other than that, we also worked with Gaming Goliath in Middle East for a loyalty program for video game buyers of FIFA 18, COD and other titles across a dozen countries.
We have been extremely lucky with our clients and their versatile backgrounds, especially over the past year.
Which mobile app has been the biggest development challenge for your app development firm?
Some time ago, France announced a change in their labour laws that allowed employees to work for more hours from home than ever before, thus, making them more liberal. As a result, enterprises faced difficulty in maintaining professionalism when dealing with clients. This gave birth to a brilliant idea that gave us a chance to build an app for organisations to manage large teams remotely. Among team and project management features, we developed a video calling feature (like Skype) with real-time green screen rendering that enabled employees to take video calls from home with an office background to make their video calls look professional.
What do you think will be the biggest smartphone release this year?
I am personally a huge fan of OnePlus. Their decision to not do any retail marketing originally while focusing on building the brand value has paid off hugely.
One Plus smartphones have become the most desirable phones in the market and can be availed at just one-third of the price of other flagships. I have my eyes set on OnePlus 6. I have a belief that no matter how the market evolves, OnePlus should be able to perform the same way and of course, with some innovation.
Besides smartphones, what mobile device do you think is worth having first?
Besides the smartphone, the other most crucial device would be a laptop. A tablet doesn’t cut it for most of the people. Fitness bands and wearable watches are not that high in priority. Being productive while mobile is important, and I think most people will agree that there is no alternative for a proper solid laptop when it comes to that.
How has the mobile market evolved since our first interview in 2015?
Mobile Market has become more mature, in terms of both, app development environments and clients. Mobility in its initial years was a tough skill, good looking and functioning apps were rare, but it has evolved and its not the case anymore. Meanwhile, enterprises that are usually risk averse have seen mobility as a great tool. Overall it’s a very positive and optimistic environment.
Mobile apps evolve too, their features change depending on the device used. What kind of app has a greater future ahead?
This is probably the toughest question for anyone in this industry, the way the industry has evolved with phones, tablets, wearables or car integrations I feel it's anyone’s guess. But apart from the general trend if we focus on just individual concepts, I think any app that can solve some problem, make something easy and save some money is all that you need to have a great future ahead.
Is Code Brew Labs adapting to new technologies and devices coming along?
Code Brew has always been active in experimenting with things that may seem impossible at first.
Code Brew prides itself of the thorough Analytics option we provide to our clients. We have worked with tens of millions of users and analysed their data which was generating at the rate of 200 GBs on an average per day. We parse through this data to generate valuable insights for our development team to take action on, to push through the user retention rates.
Apart from that, we are already underway some cryptocurrency ICO projects, along with some projects leveraging Machine Learning Algos for a better experience. Code Brew was into Augmented Reality since 2013 as well. For the future, we are already looking for the best tech and how we can adapt that in our processes and offerings.
What advice would you give to anyone with an app idea who didn’t know how to get started?
If someone has an idea, my first advice is to do some research to find competitors, think of how you can outperform your competitor and what unique product you can offer. You will also need to prototype your designs and might need to do it yourself or I would suggest you to hire Code Brew to take care of all this.
Apologies for the shameless advertising but honestly the thing most people miss is the ROI part and how the idea is worth their or anyone else’s investment. If the product can make money, no matter how risky it is, there will always be someone who is willing to take the risk with you as a partner or an investor.
How has AppFutura helped you?
We have been relatively inactive on AppFutura which we plan to change, but overall we have quite a lot of reviews from clients here. And I am a big fan of the thorough process followed by AppFutura for the reviews. AppFutura is an important platform for a third person to see the industry and options from a clear unbiased perspective. I wish AppFutura all the best for their future.
