What clients have you worked for?

We have worked with many start-ups and enterprises. To name a few: Floyd, GameMasters INC, HomeTurph, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, TimeKeeper and WA-Media Ltd.

If you had to choose one category, what kind of app do you think is Brainmobi's specialty?

We have worked across multiple verticals and domains. Our team possesses strong skill set and knowledge across various platforms, languages, and technologies including beacons, wearables, AR/VR and IoT. However, if it's required to choose one category, it would be utility and productivity apps. Being a leading mobile app development company, our team has developed exceptional utility and path-breaking mobile solutions in utility domain.

One of our key projects that we developed is Hometurph, a concierge service provider for non-resident indians. Be it family, property, home maintenance, government documentation, or daily to-do list, the mobile app assists users in accomplishing all the tasks under one roof.

What is the average budget of the mobile apps you develop?

Our clientele includes emerging startups, mid-sized organizations, and big enterprises. However, our budget typically depends on the scope and intricacies involved in the project, the budget largely vary from 5K USD to 100K USD. Again, as I said, it all depends on the type of mobile app, technologies and complexity involved.

Do you develop all mobile apps in-house or do you outsource some parts of the process?

No, we do not outsource. We have a proficient team of mobility experts including analysts, designers, developers and testers, who are experienced and expert in working on various emerging platforms and serving clients across the world.

Which would you say are the best mobile apps that your company has developed and why?

We have multiple projects that have topped the charts and have helped clients in meeting their business requirements. A few of them are:

Do you prefer to build mobile apps with native, hybrid or web languages?

We work on every platform be it native, hybrid or web languages depending on the client's requirements or needs of the project. We have a team of expert mobile app developers across platforms and languages.

Let's focus on iOS and Android mobile app development. What are the Pros and Cons of each one?

Both platforms come up with a number of pros and cons. Let's take a look at a few of them:

Android Pros

  • Being a popular platform, Android, today, has a massive user base.
  • Launching an app is extremely easy and streamlined - thanks to Google!
  • Easy coding.
  • Multiple OS options available to choose from.
  • Java is a simple language that can be learnt easily. Moreover, IDEs for Java are much easier compared to the ones for Objective C.
  • Documentation can be done in a highly structured way.

Android Cons

  • Not all apps that are available on the Play Store get compatible with the various levels of Android smartphones.
  • App’s quality on the Play Store is not as good as that of iOS apps. This is primarily because of Apple's strict review policies, as they do not allow not-at-par quality apps.
  • In terms of monetization, iOS apps are still ruling the charts. However, Android is catching up, but it still requires some time to match up.
  • Forced closure and app-crashing are common issues in Android apps.

iOS Pros

  • Smooth and flawless high-end operating system.
  • Better user experience and quality.
  • Apps are simple and run faster compared to other operating systems.
  • Highly secured software to develop high security apps.
  • Higher scalability.

iOS Cons

  • If the app is required to support a range of iOS devices, then the cost of updating and maintenance is much higher compared to any other platform.
  • The process of getting an iOS app authorized by the App Store is tedious and long.
  • Mac OS X is a closed source so apps cannot be developed on any other OS.

Which one will evolve more within the next 5 years?

In recent years, as the technology is changing, both platforms have shown an immense growth and have emerged extensively. And that's what is expected to continue in the years to come.

Android is an open-source platform and comes with myriad opportunities for Android developers, while iOS is assisted by an amazing combination of rock solid hardware amalgamated with highly interactive and engaging software. Besides, factoring a large installed base of users, large scope of customization, ability to support multiple smartphones, availability of myriad features and options to customize, looks like Android will be slightly ahead of the game in the next 5 years.

Which device is the best in the market right now?

That again depends on the factor we are considering. If we are considering price, user-friendliness, and availability, it's Android. And, if consider high-end OS, reliability, faster sensors and exceptional designs, then it's iOS devices. I am an iPhone 7 user being an iPhone fan for a long time now. I love its sleekness, performance and high-end OS. However, I keep personal and professional opinions isolated.

And, which device do you feel more comfortable developing an app for?

We possess extensive expertise and experience across both platforms, Android and iOS. We analyze customer needs, scope, vision, their business goal and budget before narrowing down to a particular platform. Moreover, there are mobile apps that are built on both platforms to reach out to a larger audience or, there are apps that are meant to be available only on iOS platform. So, it's not the question of being comfortable, it is more to do with the business need.

We factor out multiple other parameters before choosing a platform - or, at times, choosing both the platforms. Among the parameters, the most critical ones are: complexity of the task, scope of customization included, performance, integration with hardware like sensors, cameras and storage requirements and a few other things.
