Top app development companies interview: 10Clouds

Dennis van der Vecht is Account Executive at 10Clouds. This app development company was founded by Maciej Cielecki and Michał Klujszo in 2009 and has now more than a hundred employees. 10Clouds has its HQ in Warsaw (Poland) and has offices in Poznań & Wrocław, as well as in the United States.

Here’s what Dennis van der Vecht had to say about 10Clouds and the mobile app development world.

Tell us a little bit about your previous work

I was working as a project manager at a large media house. Due to many tech projects from industries like IoT, Smart Cities & Healthcare, technology has been a major trigger to join 10Clouds. It helped me engage more deeply with innovative clients in the Education industry, but also Health and the Fintech/Blockchain industry.

What does your mobile app development company do?

10Clouds provides native and cross-platform app development. With over eight years of mobile development experience, we have a deep understanding of what mobile product managers need for their businesses.

The 10Clouds team consists of mobile developers, product designers, UX designers, and testers - everything needed for successful mobile apps. By hiring 10Clouds, our team becomes your team. We can also join your in-house development team when required.

Working with 10Clouds means:

  • 8+ years of software development experience
  • Google certified agency for Android apps
  • Time and materials & Agile contracts
  • Accurate time logs for the work done
  • Constant contact with the team over video and slack
  • Agile software development
  • NDA on request
  • Direct access to development environment and codebase
  • Certified Scrum Masters
  • Collaboration in different time zones
  • English speaking team

We have been recognized as a leading agency by Clutch, and Deloitte named us as one of the fastest growing tech companies in Central Europe. Our work was featured on TechCrunch, The Economist, The New York Times, and Wired.

This video will tell you more than a thousand words - it captures our spirit perfectly:

What clients have you worked for?

We have worked with companies of all sizes - from one-person startups to enterprises like Pinterest, Asmodee, universities, and non-profits. Our team has the know-how when it comes to working with businesses that are in need of a full service. But we also play well as part of larger in-house teams (IT staff augmentation).

If you had to choose one category, what kind of app do you think is your mobile app development company’s specialty?

It’s rather hard to pick one category. We specialize in building apps for the HealthTech, FinTech and EduTech industry. And Blockchain as of lately. Our team helped build a platform that connects publishers and advertisers, and lets them make direct deals using cryptocurrency. It’s a fascinating project - you can read our Adshares case study to get more details.

What is the average budget of the mobile apps you develop?

Most of our applications are within a budget of 15,000 - 40,000 USD. Clients can expect to get their first working product (MVP) within 2 to 3 months of design and development work.

Do you develop all mobile apps in-house or do you outsource some parts of the process?

We develop mobile apps in-house. Our process of building apps is created with attention to detail and technical excellence. The best way to do that is to have internal teams that work closely together in an Agile environment.

Which would you say are the best mobile apps that your company has developed and why?

We are most proud on the following apps:

  • Iplay Sport - We developed both Android and iOS apps for a global sport community
  • CallerSmart - We developed iOS app for a community of 500,000+ users
  • Zapp Ride Share - We built Android and iOS apps for renting electric scooters

Do you prefer to build mobile apps with native, hybrid or web languages? Why?

Goals determine the technology. Native and cross-platform apps have advantages related to different business goals. We focus on the following languages when developing mobile apps:

  • Swift
  • Kotlin
  • React Native
  • Objective-C
  • Java

Which device do you feel more comfortable developing an app for? Why?

We feel comfortable developing for Android and iOS devices. After many years of experience with both, we would like to keep it this way and focus on the major platforms.

Why is AppFutura useful to you?

We want to show to the community of app builders what 10Clouds can do for them. Our goal is to use this platform for networking with entrepreneurs and form long-term partnerships.
