We interviewed the mobile app development company e-Legion back in July 2018, so we wanted to update their information with a new Follow Up interview here on AppFutura's blog.
Kristina Tertyshnikova, Head of international business development at e-Legion, has a background connected with sport and tennis. She has completed an MBA from the Russian International Olympic University. All of her work experience is about building solid relationships with international partners and customers as well as coordination of marketing and sales teams’ work.
e-Legion has 120 employees. The app development company was founded in 2005 by Alexander Zverev. Let's see what Kristina has to say about e-Legion development company.
Your last interview was published at the ending of July 2018. What great apps have you been working on since then and what are your biggest plans for 2020?
We’ve started to work with wearable devices and published My Jet Sport and My Jet Kid apps. With the first one, you can track your physical activity throughout the day, view your performance history, etc. My Jet Kid helps to take care of a child. It tracks the kid's real-time geolocation and physical activity during the day. It also sends emergency alerts.
We’ve also developed an app MedReach for the pharmaceutical company from Saudi Arabia. We’ve created the CRM that helps medical representatives reach medical doctors when working remotely. At the start of this project, the client came to our office in Saint-Petersburg and we held an offline session for better understanding the app goals and objectives. In the workshop format, we finalized the functional requirements, drew up a work plan, and selected tools for communication. We have created a technological tool that solves the tasks of several key figures in the medical system.
Moreover, we have started working with a start-up from Norway. Friendr is a service for meeting people around the world. We have almost re-written the backend and helped the company succeed in its investment round.
The biggest retail network from Russia joined us too and we launched 4 different applications together. We have made a redesign for Tele2 and Globus. Now those apps are ranking high in stores and feedback is mostly positive.
Our plan now is to expand more globally and grow our expertise in retail, e-commerce, and social networks.
If you had to choose one category, what kind of app you think is your mobile app development company’s specialty?
I would name fintech and retail. We do have extensive experience working with banks, traders, betting companies not only in Russia but globally. The biggest banks inside the country trust us and are always sure that we will take care not only of the code but also of business performance.
Now we have more and more clients from retail, we grow our expertise in this field every day with our partners Globus and X5 Retail group.
Which app has been the biggest challenge for your app development company?
First of all, one of our biggest challenges is the distance. It always seems hard to work with partners overseas, but we were able to prove it is possible, and we can be a part of the team not only for Russian companies but for the whole world.
Also, the challenge is to dive into a new field. So when we start working on the project does not matter if it is an application for traders or for a pharmaceutical company, our experts dive deep into the subject. They study the peculiarities, ask for consultations with clients, go to courses, etc.
The last time we spoke, your company said the iPhone X was the best device in the market. A lot has happened since then. What would you answer now?
Android: Huawei p40 pro. I love the design, the features, and the fact that the company has invented the whole play services from scratch. But if we talk about the photos it's Google Pixel.
iOS: I would say it’s iPhone11.
What do you think will be the biggest smartphone release in 2020 and why?
Android: It's already released. Now we are just waiting for the Android 10 release. Not the phone itself, but the operating system.
iOS: I am waiting for the new iPhone with 5G, maybe a new design, better camera, and battery.
Besides smartphones, what mobile device do you think is worth having first?
Apple Watch or Xiaomi Mi Band.
Are you working all the time? Get a laptop. If you listen to music a lot you will need wireless headphones. If you want to have an interactive watch and be more healthy you may get Xiaomi Mi Band 4 or any other fitness tracker/watch. It all depends on the design and features that you want to get.
What do you think mobile devices will be able to do in the future that they don't do now?
There are more healthcare systems inside mobile devices so we do hope that the field will grow and allow us to stay strong, healthy, and do not forget to “breath”.
e-Legion’s developers' thoughts: The problem with battery usage is still not fixed. And you know where all of your battery's percentages are going? Internet usage! Without it, the phone can last up to 7 days. With only Wi-Fi — 3-4 days. But when using mobile cellular for internet connection it will be 1-2 days before you will need to recharge the device again. So annoying!
What smartphone feature could you not live without?
Messengers.
Is your mobile app development team adapting to the new technologies and devices coming along?
Yes, we always are up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends. Right now at e-legion, we grow the AI-expertise inside the company. We are testing our system with one of the biggest retail groups and hope to get back with the results soon.
What advice would you give to anyone with an app idea who didn't know how to get started?
Start with the discovery phase! This phase is aimed to identify and compare with your competitors the basic technical and business features for the project's future development, analyzing and adjusting business goals, and making expert recommendations regarding the best way to implement your ideas.
Actually, at e-Legion, we want to help entrepreneurs to start their app projects and we offer the discovery phase now for people all over the world. The service is tailored to bridge the gap between a business and a digital solution.
