Petr Hasalík is the founder and CEO of Direct-services s.r.o.. The company, founded in 2009, is focused on mobile application and web development. It is located in Novy Jicin, at the east end of the Czech Republic, and it has up to 15 employees. Here is what he had to say about his company, their work and the mobile world.
What do you do at Direct-services s.r.o.?
We focus on mobile application (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, Symbian) and web development. As a company, we have grown significantly over last few years, even beyond our expectations. Our team now has more than 15 developers. We greatly appreciate loyalty of our clients, because nothing will tell you that you are doing a good job better than the fact, that your customers keep coming back.
Our clients are from all over the globe so their needs and methods are never the same, which makes our tasks even more challenging. In my opinion, the key to making them happy is to take good care of your employees because only people who love their job will give it one hundred percent.
We have recently made several strategic partnerships with large companies that do not have in-house mobile developers where everyone is able to focus on the core business. We are looking towards the future and trying to prepare ourselves for whatever it may bring.
Which would you say are the best apps you have developed and why?
I would like to say that all apps we have designed and developed are equally important to us. For example ’Smart Volume Control’ application is our own creation. We loved the whole process of development which was preceded by inventing functions and relationships across the application to keep it usable and easy to grasp. We are also happy for user feedback when some are wondering why an application like this is not integrated in the operating system. Recently, we have developed a fun multiplayer game ’Bodswap: The drawing game’ for one of our clients. In past years it was electronic logbook and remote vehicle tracking ’WD Fleet’ , ’Web dispatching’ and also radio or television broadcast processing application 'OCTOPUS Newsroom’.
What apps would you have loved to develop and why?
Well, it looks like we will probably miss ’Flappy Bird’. I'm just kidding, of course. Leaving aside the game development, building a mobile app is rather about solving problems, not chasing ideas. Now when everything is moving towards the cloud I would say that something like LinkedIn is the best answer to this question.
Which are the 5 apps you use the most on a daily basis?
Chrome, E-mail, Pocket, Smart Volume Control and Google Maps.
Which mobile device is the best in the market right now?
I am inclined to native and pure Android, so my choice would be Nexus 5 smart phone and Nexus 7 tablet.
What kind of device/platform will be the next big thing?
I have heard rumours that Google`s Nexus line will soon be replaced by Play Edition. I think that it will be a best-seller.
