Viacheslav Ponomarov is Managing Director at SteelKiwi. The company, founded in 2011 by himself and Anton Baterikov, is located in Ukraine and employs around 45 people. Right after graduating college, they decided to found SteelKiwi. Here's what he had to say about his company and the mobile world:
What do you do?
SteelKiwi specializes in mobile and web development. We are ready to make an application of any complexity and to make it either from scratch or to join your team at any development stage: we can help you with wireframes, design, app and backend development. The only point remains unchanged is usage of native technologies for development (Objective C/Swift and Java for mobile development and Python for web).
Which would you say are the best apps you have developed and why?
Grand Park Auto, Bubble Journey, BlueBook, YF Passport and Card Storage. These apps are our brainchildren and we are proud that we managed to create them.
Which apps would you have loved to develop and why?
It is a great pleasure for the development team to create a product that is not only popular but useful for the end user, something that makes their life easier and can help in their daily routine. Personally I like Gmail (especially the new Material Design version) and Any.do applications.
Which are the 5 apps you use the most on a daily basis?
I’m not unusual here, I use main-stream apps. Gmail is the one I use from early morning till late night. Skype, Viber are used for business communication. Instagram to follow my friends and relatives. Any.do to keep all my stuff clear.
Which mobile device is the best in the market right now?
I believe that there are two types of people: Android users and iOS users. I am an Android type, that is why I really like my bright-red new Nexus 5 by LG and Google: not too large display, incredible performance, tight integration with wearable devices that is why I like it. But, I think, that 2015 is year of bigger screens, so Nexus 6 (for example) or fresh Galaxy Note looks like a must have solution for usual users.
What kind of device/platform will be the next big thing?
That is a tricky question, but I assume that wear devices, such as iWatch, Motorola 360, etc.
This device segment is pretty young, but promising as it helps to solve problems even better than we’ve got used to. Looks like Google Glass device is “too much” for not-geeks, but I believe that Apple will push this market forward with iWatch and rest of vendors will follow.
Why is AppFutura useful to you?
What we like about AppFutura is guaranteed payments, after completion of the work we can request release payment and get paid. And, what is extremely important, is great catalogue of apps, which is possible to use when you’re discussing different ideas with customer.
