Stephen Ceresia is the founder of HUMAN MOBILE. The company was recently founded and defines itself as an international group of passionate, quality-obsessed, mobile developers. The team is based in Saigon, Vietnam, and Merlion, Singapore. Stephen is a Canadian with nearly a decade of experience in mobile development and project management with various start-ups and major game studios. Here’s what Stephen had to say about his work and the mobile world:
What do you do?
We focus mainly on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone development. For design-heavy projects, we have a network of talented local designers we collaborate with as well.
Which would you say are the best apps you have developed and why?
The best app we have developed is always the app we're currently working on. We're strong believers in targeting the latest technology, and leveraging the latest tools whenever possible. Things move so fast in the mobile space, if you want to remain competitive, you really have to.
That said, of the apps I’ve designed and self-published, there’s a special place in my heart for my first iOS game, Bubble Pets. Even though it was released several years ago, I still receive kind emails from fans all over the world enjoying its addictive gameplay, colorful graphics, and quirky humor. It was also my first project to be featured in a print magazine (Tap! UK), and nominated for an award (Canadian Video Game Awards, 2010).
Which apps would you have loved to develop and why?
This changes frequently, but currently it would have to be VSCO Cam. Its stylish interface and impressive design make it a pleasure to use, and it monetizes effectively through desirable – but completely optional - in-app purchases.
Which are the 5 apps you use the most on a daily basis?
Reddit is fun, VSCO Cam, Twitter, Super Hexagon (for when I need an arcade rush), and Google Translate (for when my Vietnamese language skills are not up to the task.)
Which mobile device is the best in the market right now?
This might sound strange coming from a self-proclaimed “iOS guy,” but I think the HTC One M8 is currently the best mobile device on the market. Its performance, display, innovative use of the “Dot View” case (which I hope HTC plans to open an API for), and gorgeous aluminum design make it – in my opinion - the first Android device that can win over die-hard Apple fans.
What kind of device/platform will be the next big thing?
I’m convinced it will be wearable tech, but I’m not sure it will be in current forms we’re seeing with devices like the upcoming Apple Watch, or Google Glass. I’m very excited to see what emerges out of VR like Oculus Rift, and especially the potential non-game applications for it.
Why is AppFutura useful to you?
AppFutura gives me access to an international client base that I would otherwise never have the pleasure of connecting with. Besides this, it provides an excellent communication platform, a place to showcase my app development portfolio, and eliminates a lot of the uncertainty in the Project Owner/Developer partnership.
