Top app development companies interview: Nacho Sánchez - InQBarna

Published on May 20, 2014 in App Development

Nacho Sánchez is the CEO of InQBarna. The company was founded in 2009 by himself, Sergi Hernanz, David García, David Romacho, Antonio Ortega and Javier Zamora. Before founding inQBarna, Nacho had founded other companies. One of them made him come across iOS development and that's when they started the company to create mobile apps for a living. Here is what he had to say about the company and the mobile world:

What do you do?

As a mobile studio, we develop iOS and Android apps. The company is organized so we have our own projects (internal development, mainly music apps) and 3rd party development (we have worked, for example, with multiple Barcelona startups).

Our technical background makes us experts in audio, image and video processing. That is why our most successful apps are music apps with intensive processing.

What would you say are the best apps you have developed and why?

Our best apps are:

Splyce: our beautiful music player and automated mixer gives users a new music experience. 700k downloads. Named by Apple Best Music App of 2013.

Cookbooth: a cooking social network based on photorecipes. 200k downloads.

SocialDiabetes: a tool for diabetic people to track their progress and their daily treatment. We are specially proud of this one because it makes life better for diabetic people.

What apps would you have loved to develop and why?

I would have loved to develop Vine. I think it is a game changer in the way people shares their content. Everybody shares images and videos, but Vine makes it in such a way you have far much more room for creativity.

What are the 5 apps you use the most on a daily basis?

There are some apps that I use everyday, and I would say, almost every hour: WhatsApp, Eurosport, Endomondo, Evernote and Foursquare.

Which mobile device is the best in the market right now?

I think all the Google Nexus smartphones are the best value for money. Their performance is great, their screens are crisp and big, and the integration with Android is the best possible.

What kind of device/platform will be the next big thing?

I am not very keen on Google Glass, so I’d say a connected TV (Smart TV). We’ll have all kind of apps for it.

Why is AppFutura useful to you?

AppFutura is great because it gives visibility to international projects that we’d never be able to find ourselves. It allows us to compete with other big companies in getting the best projects. The fact that we can communicate with the client and evaluate the project in a quick and simple way opens the door to many new leads.
