Mobile Bakery AppFutura Interview

Dany Satine is the CEO of The Mobile Bakery. The company was founded in 2013 by himself, Marc Llucià and Joan Cardona. It is located in Barcelona and has up to 10 employees. Dany introduces himself as a Mass Communication professional, specialized in Mobile Marketing and Mobile Communication. For the last 10 years, he has worked in major advertising agencies. Four years ago he moved to Barcelona, where he found the right place to develop a new mobile agency concept. Here is what he had to say about his company, their work and the mobile world.

What do you do at The Mobile Bakery?

For each project we make a kick-start full of user insights, business objectives and communication goals. Understanding our clients needs and ambitions. With this tripod, Mobile Strategy, Software Development and flawless interface design we're making the difference in the mobile sector in Barcelona. After all these years we face two types of clients in a daily basis. The first one is focused on its online/offline business and wants to migrate to mobile. The other type wants to create a new business or communication model based on mobile devices. In both cases we put all our efforts in understanding their needs. At The Mobile Bakery we create products like in the best pastry, each ingredient has to be in the right measure to have a great result.

Which would you say are the best apps you have developed and why?

ByHours, where you can feel free to pay for a hotel only for the time you spend there. You have packs of 3, 6, 12, 24, 36 and 48 hours and choose at what time you check-in and check-out. A great way to start enjoying a hotel room. The Mobile Bakery is proud to be the mobile developer of this great start-up that has closed almost 800K$ in seed capital funding.

Marcador Internacional is one of the top soccer news source in the world, with Axel Torres at Radio Marca and GolTV and now with its own website. We built a great way to read content and to subscribe to a sort of “magazine”, that includes exclusive podcasts and live text for matches. In just one week after releasing it, the app was reviewed by Apple.

ForexCrunch is one of the first sources of information about Forex Trading forecast in the world that includes a real time events calendar containing every situation that can affect the trading rates between currencies.

Shana: The fashion retailer, with stores in more than 25 countries decided to take the e-Commerce to m-Commerce. For us it was a great opportunity to release a great shopping experience through mobile devices.

What apps would you have loved to develop and why?

Foursquare. An only-mobile focused model. Revolutionary from the beginning and in constant re-invention. I love its model because it has become a gateway for local businesses to get in touch with consumers and visitors insights. The information that you can get and the design is flawless. Foursquare is a true pioneer of the gamification tendency. For sure this is the app that The Mobile Bakery would have loved to developed.

Which are the 5 apps you use the most on a daily basis?

  • Mail app.
  • WhatsApp (and now Telegram).
  • Pulse.
  • Foursquare.
  • LinkedIn.

Which mobile device is the best in the market right now?

For me, as an Apple lover, iPhone is the best device in the market. Reliable, fast as I need it to be, all apps available, all my other Apple devices connected so I don’t have to worry when I use my iPad or Mac. However, I find other devices like Android Nexus quite interesting.

What kind of device/platform will be the next big thing?

Wearable technology is starting to break out beyond the sports and wellness wristbands to devices that can now be integrated into and applied to a growing range of important functions. This suggests a future where actions and tasks can be performed without having to rely on your mobile phone and where our bodies become the interface.
