Google's new Gboard officially launched for Android

Mobiloitte and Google Gboard

Tech giant Google has recently rolled out Gboard, an upgraded version of Google Keyboard for Android's operating system. The app has been launched by Google for Android users exactly six months after it was introduced for the iOS operating system.

Gboard comes with improved functionality and, like the old Google Keyboard, Gboard too offers interesting features such as speed, precision, autocorrect, voice typing, glide typing and inbuilt Google Search. Moreover, it also supports multilingual typing so that you can switch languages effortlessly within the same conversation. What’s more, Google’s Gboard also enables you to easily search and share news, weather updates, song lyrics, stock prices, flight times, videos, emojis, GIFs and much more right from your keyboard. The mobile app development company Mobilotite Technologies wants to share with all of us the features of the Gboard.

All you need to know about Gboard’s innovative Features you'll find it in this article.

Search and share information without leaving your conversation

Gboard incorporates search within apps such as Hangouts, Messenger, Allo, Gmail, etc. This has been done to eliminate the need of switching apps to and from. It features Google's search box to enable its users to run a quick Google search from within an app directly from their keyboard. Now you can share your favourite wisdom quotes, news updates and YouTube videos with your friends without having to leave the app.

Furthermore, Gboard leverages artificial intelligence (AI) technology to guess what you want to search or type. For example, if you are making dinner plans with a friend on a messaging app, generally you leave the chat and switch to a different app to search for a location, event, restaurant and so on; but with Gboard, you can make plans for lunch or a night out and also share weather updates with your friends right from your keyboard with just one tap.

Discover and share the right emojis and GIFs in the blink of an eye

Like its iOS predecessor, Gboard for Android also features inbuilt emoji and GIF search. With Gboard, you do not need to scroll through hundreds of emoticons to pick the emoji you are looking for. For example, if you are looking for a “cat” emoji, all you need to do is search “cat” to choose the emoji of your choice. Similarly, you can also pick the perfect GIF to react to just about anything during a conversation with an animated image. However, GIFs are currently supported only on Hangouts, Allo and Messenger.

Type smarter with glide typing

Among the wide array of interesting features that Gboard offers, the most distinctive feature is glide typing. Now you can glide through the letters for typing words faster than before. As soon as you lift your finger off the mobile screen, Gboard’s keyboard identifies it as ‘space’. The glide typing feature also memorises the words frequently used by you and completes the words and phrases even before you start typing.

Switch between three different languages at a time

Since Gboard's app supports over 100 languages, it enables you to type three languages at a time within the same conversation. Gboard is supported by machine learning technology that helps you type faster. Moreover, it assists multilingual users by autocorrecting and suggesting words from their chosen languages. All you need to do is select your preferred languages and start typing.

Google Gboard can be downloaded from Google Play Store. You can also personalise the app by changing the colour and style of the keyboard to suit your preferences.
